A superb tutorial on adding a border to your quilt top by Jo Baner. One of the most common mistakes when adding a border is not measuring. This can create wavy borders and lead to difficulties and puckers when quilting. Another trick for ensuring that your quilt top lays flat after adding the border is to cut the borders from the lengthwise grain of fabric.

Thomas Knauer shares his story of inspiration for his fabric lines for Andover Fabrics in this video, and it’s not at all the “fluff and vanilla” you might be expecting. I found his talk charming, funny and entertaining and I hope you do to.

If you pay particular attention to the name of his second line of fabric, you might want to enter the contest sponsored by Andover Fabrics on their blog.
