Binding by Machine – Heirloom Quilting’s Method

The gals at Heirloom Creations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, have made another great video – this one about sewing on a binding to the back of a quilt.

I do things slightly differently (don’t we all?) but there are many great tips in this video and I’m sure you’ll like seeing yet another quilter and her binding tips!

Just finished my first Jelly Roll Topper. 4 ft W X 6 ft L. Loved watching this clipping. Such determination and I must say, “Yes, this is addictive”. I love the Jelly Roll. I don’t know how to bind or make the back yet??? I guess I just get batting, then material for the back and material for the binding. I want a BIG BIND to make sure I cover all the areas.
Thank you for sharing…loved all your quilts.

    Sincerely, Diane

when I attach my binding, the seam allowance is such that the top, batting and back fills the binding, so I do notmhave to add the 1/4 excess per the video. I generally cut the strips at 2.5 ” then check needle placement so the seam allowance is adequate to enclose all three layers.
