I too am a fan of the “metal frame” sewing machine, and I also recommend talking to experienced sewing and quilting enthusiasts, either in person or online, about their machine suggestions.

I purchased a new Singer sewing machine. It too cost several hundred dollars and turned out to be disposable. Couldn’t even finish one baby quilt top. In disgust I did thorough research for my next machine. My new Janome is is wonderful. I am able to piece the quilt tops with no problems at all, but the best part is I can do the quilting portion of a quilt. I am now trying free motion. Janome can do more that stitch in the ditch. I am a happy sewer again 🙂

Hi Kelly, That is a shame about the Singer but I am glad you’re happy with your Janome!
