Bringing up the bobbin thread
Before starting your free motion machine quilting, it’s important to bring the bobbin thread to the top of the quilt to make sure it doesn’t tangle or get caught in the race and create a “thread nest”. In this video Marguerita McManus shows how to bring up the bobbin thread. This is a good technique for both decorative stitches and for free motion quilting.

Thanks so much for posting this! I am very very new to quilting (never completed one), and had no idea this should even be done. Thanks for making me more confident in my work as I go through this journey.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Your video saved me. I couldn’t remember how to bring up the bobbin thread for machine quilting. It is two days before Christmas and I am trying to finish a very special quilt for my son’s present and I was almost in a panic. Your instructions are perfect. Again, thank you.
You are welcome Linda
Take a deep breath, relax and you will be done in no time
Wishing you and your family Happy Holidays, Marguerita
